Arthur Dolk (Amsterdam, 1953) studied at Leiden University, where he specialised in insurance and transport law. His final paper was on the “overall limitation” in marine law.
In 1979 he was sworn in as an attorney. He first worked as an attorney in Rotterdam and then in Amsterdam. He not only focused on international transport and insurance practice, but he also worked in the area of general contract law, international trade and arbitration.
In 1983 he took up office in the Assurantiebeurs in Amsterdam, where he became familiar with the diversity in the insurance and transport market. All sorts of issues arose with the transport and insurance of goods in particular, such as ownership issues and cause. In addition, general issues of cover in the event of damage or loss played an important role, such as damage and loss relating to fires and during transport. The liability of insured to third parties was regularly a topic of discussion.
Arthur Dolk is an active member of various associations:
He is also attached as a special adviser to the Vereniging voor Zeehavenexpediteurs in Rotterdam (BZE), Legal Representative of an English Insurance Company and court clerk with the Arbitration Board of the Nederlandse Zuidvruchten Vereniging (NZV).
